CEOs back repeal of NC transgender bathroom law

Posted online
Over 100 corporate executives have added their names to a letter delivered to North Carolina’s governor Thursday calling for the repeal of the state’s law limiting bathroom options for transgender individuals.

The law also prohibits local antidiscrimination measures; prevents workers from suing in state court alleging discrimination on the basis of race, sex and other factors; and prohibits municipalities and counties from requiring companies provide minimum wages or paid sick leave.

The list of companies that have asked for a repeal now includes leaders from a cross-section of various industries. Corporations represented include Hilton, Marriott and Starwood hotels; AirBnB, Uber, Lyft and American Airlines; Bank of America, Citibank, TD Bank and PayPal; Starbucks, Barnes & Noble and Levi Strauss; and IBM, Apple, Intel, Google, Facebook and Yahoo.
