CenturyTel is seeking competitive classification for its residential exchanges in Ava, Columbia, Crane, Marshfield and Seymour.
If the Missouri Public Service Commission grants competitive status, CenturyTel would no longer be subject to price regulation in the affected exchanges. The commission would continue to regulate quality of service, service termination and other billing issues.
State law requires that the commission issue a decision by March 3.
In October, CenturyTel was granted a request for competitive classification in 11 of its other residential and business exchanges. The telephone service provider operates in 96 Missouri exchanges.[[In-content Ad]]
