CenturyLink Inc. has started laying off hundreds of employees companywide.
Company officials did not disclose an exact number, but said about 2 percent of the workforce would be cut. That could mean as many as 1,050 employees.
CenturyLink is said to be streamlining operations following last year's merger with Level 3 Communications.
