Nashville-based Centerstone, which merged late last year with Springfield-based Brightli Inc., announced a leadership role promotion this morning.
Tom Weber, who had served as Brightli’s chief administrative officer since 2021, was promoted to chief operating officer, according to a news release. Rance Burger, director of media and public relations for the company, said Weber began work in the position today.
In the role, Weber will oversee Centerstone’s day-to-day functions. Through last year’s merger, Centerstone became the nation’s largest behavioral health services nonprofit on the basis of revenue, estimated at $1.1 billion each year, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
Burger said Carol Bean previously served as COO for Centerstone from January-November 2025. She is currently a division president within the company, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Weber said in the release that his main job as COO is to empower Centerstone’s team members on their mission of providing quality behavioral health care that is also sustainable.
“I love the thrill of building a relationship with someone and encouraging them,” Weber said in the release. “Our teams make decisions that are for our mission and for our clients, as well as for sustaining the mission. I think that’s been a huge part of our success story.”
Weber is responsible for the organization’s investment and debt strategy and its facilities master plan with more than 225 offices, clinics and treatment centers, according to the release.
With a background in finance, Weber worked for KPM CPAs & Advisors in Springfield for a decade. Most of his work focused on audits, mergers and acquisitions and tax preparation for community banks. He transitioned in 2017 to behavioral health care by joining Preferred Family Healthcare, where he served as its chief financial officer until it merged with Burrell Behavioral Health to form Brightli in 2021.
“When our company was smaller, I could go in there and turn the dials, and I could really effect change quickly,” Weber said in the release. “Now I’ve got to trust the team and work with the relationships we have; we’ve created a large system in a short amount of time, and so we have to help our people navigate it.”
Weber’s promotion comes a couple of weeks after the company announced C.J. Davis as its new CEO, succeeding David Guth Jr., according to past reporting.
“Tom is deeply committed to supporting and developing his teams,” Davis said in the release. “He combines sharp business acumen with humor, authenticity and strong relationship building skills to inspire collaboration and drive results. His leadership philosophy is rooted in a genuine commitment to people, and his relentless pursuit of excellence is always guided by a desire to create the best possible outcomes for those served by the organization.”
