Centene seeks $147M in public help for Clayton expansion

Centene Corp. wants $147 million in taxpayer help for its proposed $771.8 million, multibuilding expansion project in downtown Clayton.

A large portion of the public funding would come from the city of Clayton in the form of nearly $95.6 million in property tax abatement for the company's investment plans.

The Medicaid managed care provider also seeks to tap into $45.7 million from two separate state programs that award tax credits for adding jobs.
