Centene closes $6B acquisition

St. Louis-based managed health care company Centene Corp. closed a $6 billion acquisition of California-based Health Net Inc.

With the finalization, Health Net becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene. It also will no longer be an independent publicly traded company.

The deal creates the nation's largest Medicaid managed care organization.
