The bureau will conduct interviews through Feb. 25, as well as during the weeks of March 19 and April 16, for the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the bureau’s monthly population survey.
About 2,000 bureau representatives will interview approximately 100,000 households across the country. Questions will be relevant to characteristics of the U.S. labor force, including employment status, hours of work, earnings, age, sex, race, marital status, educational attainment, occupation and industry of employment.
Before being surveyed, selected households will receive a letter from the bureau. Some households will be interviewed by phone, and others will be questioned in person.
All bureau representatives carry official identification, and all collected information that could identify respondents will be kept confidential.
Survey results will allow the bureau to update high-profile indicators such as the monthly unemployment rate, the median household income, the official poverty rate and the percentage of people without health insurance.[[In-content Ad]]
