The Cedar County government has qualified for a $93,000 low-interest loan.
Springfield-based Mid-Missouri Bank partnered with Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel's office on the loan through the Missouri Linked Deposit Program, which is managed by the treasurer's office and allows qualified borrowers - entities with fewer than 100 employees - to save roughly 30 percent on the cost of the loan, according to a news release.
“Mid-Missouri Bank is deeply rooted in and committed to the Cedar County community and is thoroughly pleased to serve in a manner that addresses a need and effectively maximizes a positive outcome,” said Scott Burton, executive vice president of the bank's Bolivar and Stockton branches, in the release.
Cedar County will use the loan to purchase two dump trucks for county use.
“The Missouri Linked Deposit Program can help farmers and small-business owners, but it is also there for our local governments to help them purchase needed items," Zweifel said in the release. “I have approved more than $2 million in low-interest loans to help local governments since 2009.
"This is saving taxpayers money and investing right where we need it."
Through the Linked Deposit Program, southwest Missouri has received more than $158 million in low-interest loans affecting more than 2,900 jobs and farmers, according to the release.
