CBS fires CEO Leslie Moonves, denies $120M severance

Posted online

CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves was fired for cause and denied a $120 million severance package, officials of the media company said Monday.

The decision follows accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Moonves, allegedly occurring before and after he joined the company.

According to Reuters, the CBS board reviewed findings of an investigation by two law firms hired by CBS. They issued this statement:

“We have determined that there are grounds to terminate for cause, including his willful and material misfeasance, violation of company policies and breach of his employment contract, as well as his willful failure to cooperate fully with the company’s investigation.”

Moonves, who resigned from his position in September, has denied any wrongdoing and has described his sexual encounters as consensual, according to Reuters.
