The location, 3503 S. Thompson, is currently undergoing extensive renovation and will be home to a donation center, distribution center and administrative offices. The center, purchased for about $690,000, is tentatively scheduled to open in September.
Chris Pilgrim, CBCO marketing manager, said the office will have 6,250 square feet of finished space, more than double the organization’s current leased space, and an additional 3,000 square feet can be finished at a later date. The cost of renovations is unknown.
“This location is along a busy main thoroughfare and is fairly close to the present location that our donors have become accustomed to,” CBCO Executive Director Don Thomson said in a news release. “There’s plenty of parking and superior mobile staging and distribution operations. Finally, this gives us room for the organization to grow.”
In fiscal 2006-07, CBCO donors provided more than 83,000 units of blood for area patients. The organization has operations in Springfield and Joplin, in addition to its northwest Arkansas facility.
