Taking the leap out of my comfort zone has been transformative for my career. After graduating from Missouri State, I chose to return to an unfamiliar area where I knew no one. Phoenix took a chance on me – someone young and new to both the region and the healthcare industry. Through my own drive and determination, I’ve proven that stepping into the unknown can lead to unexpected growth. This experience has shaped how I lead others, emphasizing the importance of getting out of your comfort zone to reach new heights.
While I initially planned to become a nurse, shadowing at a hospital helped me realize my strengths lay elsewhere. My mother, who built her career in sales, encouraged me to combine my interest in healthcare with my natural ability to build relationships. In my current role, I don’t see what I do as simply sales – it’s about understanding people’s needs and connecting them with the right services. I’m passionate about educating families about their options, especially showing them alternatives to traditional nursing home care that allow their loved ones to live their final days or years with dignity in the setting of their choice.
Both my parents instilled in me a strong work ethic and sense of independence. As an only child, I learned from their experiences and developed the drive to prove myself. In my role at Phoenix, I strive to be accessible to my team members, ensuring they know they can come to me for advice and support. I believe in sharing specific examples from my experience in the industry, whether it’s handling particular situations with patients or working with referral sources, so my team can learn from both my successes and challenges. My goal is to help others shine and reach their full potential, just as my mentors have done for me.
