Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s General Store Inc. (Nasdaq: CASY) purchased the former Burger King site at the corner of Wasson Road and Highway 160 in Nixa, according to the listing agent, Todd Chambers.
Chambers of Chambers Real Estate Services LLC said this morning, Casey’s closed on the property Jan. 2, though he declined to disclose the sale price. The former Burger King had been listed for $690,000. The seller was the Wood Family Limited Partnership, according to Chambers.
He said he understands Casey’s representatives currently are working with the city of Nixa to get a building permit, but he didn’t know when construction was expected to begin or end.
“They will tear it down and build new,” Chambers said.
According to Caseys.com, the convenience store chain already has three locations in Nixa: 1015 N. Main St., 1110 W. Mt. Vernon St. and 1306 W. Mt. Vernon St.
Chambers also is selling 4.84 acres immediately south of the former Burger King property at $12.50 per square foot. He said the northern 2.66 acres of that vacant land is under contract, but he declined to name the would-be buyer. Chambers, however, said Casey’s is only buying the former Burger King space.
