Tell us about Networks Inc.
Networks was established in 1994 to provide computer and networking services to the small- and medium- business and education markets. It is a 100 percent locally owned and operated company.

Networks Inc. is ranked No. 1 on SBJ’s list of new computer dealers, based on the number of full-time employees. Tell us about your employee base. Has it grown recently?
Our employee base has been fairly stable over the last few years. We believe by providing a good working environment and an opportunity to learn continually, we can retain our employees, which is in the best interest of both the company and our clients.
Generally, we believe in trying to accommodate growth in our business by becoming more efficient as opposed to increasing staff levels. However, we are always looking to add good people who can help the company where it makes sense for us to do so.

Is it ever a challenge for you to find qualified and competent workers?
Attracting candidates interested in a career in technology doesn’t present a significant challenge to us. In the regular course of our business, we offer a wide range of work experience, which is attractive to candidates looking to learn new skills and develop their existing skill sets.

What types of qualifications do you look for?
In addition to a good foundation in technology, we are looking for candidates with good character and a willingness to learn.

How did you choose a career in technology?
I picked a computer information systems major at SMS because I thought it would offer a good variety of career choices. One of my professors had a networking business and needed some extra help, and the rest is history.

What are some of the new products available now?
We are presently enjoying good success with network-based surveillance products. NetWorks recently completed a large installation at the Missouri National Guard/State Emergency Management headquarters in Jefferson City, and we have also won contracts for surveillance installations for several local business and education clients this summer.

Tell us about your family and your spare-time interests.
I have been married for seven years to my wife, Gretchen. I have two sons, Griffen, who is 5, and Braden, who is 2. We are members of South Gate Baptist Church in Springfield. I am also a member of Sunrise Rotary. I spend the little free time I have with my wife and kids, playing tennis and at the lake.
