The Carthage Press, a southwest Missouri newspaper that operated since 1884, published its last edition.
Publisher Joseph Leong wrote in a letter to readers that Wednesday's edition was its last.
The paper is owned by Gatehouse Media, which according to The Associated Press, recently offered severance packages to many of its papers.
