Cars.com puts itself up for sale

Cars.com is exploring "strategic alternatives," including a possible sale.

Officials with the Chicago-based auto listings company said its board authorized the strategy in September.

Cars.com last month laid off 126 employees, reducing its workforce by 8 percent to around 1,500 people.
