Career services facility opens in Marshfield

Posted online
Marshfield is the latest city to gain an Access Point, a center that offers services and resources to area jobseekers through a statewide initiative.

Missouri’s Sharing How Access to Resources Empowers, or SHARE, Network creates Access Point centers in areas where people might lack computer literacy or cannot access job-finding services on their own.

The Marshfield Access Point is located at Webster County Garst Memorial Library, 219 W. Jackson St.

Those searching for jobs or seeking to improve their current jobs can visit the facility. Through the network, organizations have free access to Missouri’s electronic job bank, an Internet-based resource directory, trained volunteers, surplus computers and reference materials. Jobseekers also may receive referrals to a Missouri Career Center for skill assessment, training and other career services.

Hours of the facility are 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m–8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

In March, another southwest Missouri Access Point opened, also in Webster County – at the Seymour Community Library, 320 E. Clinton Ave.

The SHARE initiative is coordinated by the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s work force division, Local Workforce Investment Boards and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.
