Cards tickets the sixth-priciest in baseball

As ticket pricing goes, the St. Louis Cardinals have the sixth highest in the league, and the Kansas City Royals recorded the steepest increase.

With Major League Baseball parks welcoming fans on opening day yesterday, the average ticket price is 2 percent higher than last year to $27.93, according to Team Marketing Report's Fan Cost Index.

ESPN reports an increase by 2013 World Series champions Boston Red Sox moved them past the New York Yankees to No. 1 at $52.32 per seat.The Cardinals' average ticket price is $33.84, and fresh off their first winning season in 10 years, the Royals raised their ticket prices by an average of 24.7 percent.

The cheapest MLB tickets belong to the San Diego Padres, who are charging an average of $16.37, the report said, and the average beer price in stadiums was flat at $6.09.

Baseball games remain a bargain compared to the four major sports. According to Team Marketing Report, the average cost of a ticket in the NBA this season was $52.50, while the average NHL ticket price was $61.62. The average NFL ticket price was the highest at $81.54 per seat per game.
