The St. Louis Cardinals have filed a lawsuit against a local nonprofit, alleging it committed fraud by scalping thousands of game tickets that were intended to be used to support youth baseball, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Leagues of Extraordinary Gentleman, which runs the Lewis & Clark Baseball League, was given 3,500 tickets in 2014 at a discounted price through the team's Cardinals Care charity program, according to the lawsuit.
The tickets were meant to be used for fundraising efforts to support youth participation in amateur baseball. The suit alleges the charity instead sold the tickets for above face value on online ticket exchange StubHub.
