Candlewood Suites

Posted online
Thomas Construction Co. of Osage Beach is the general contractor for Elliott Lodging LLC’s Candlewood Suites hotel at Glenstone Avenue and Kerr Street in north Springfield. Slone Architects Inc. designed the 43,000-square-foot facility. Engineers are Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; Edelman Engineering, structural; and Bernard Engineering Co., mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Candlewood Suites is designed for extended-stay visitors; each of the 83 suites have an open floor plan, a full kitchen and a large flat-panel TV. There will be three different types of suites. The Candlewood Cupboard, an in-house mini-mart, will offer basic supplies for guests. The 43,000-square-foot, four-story hotel has an estimated cost of $4.5 million, according to previous SBJ coverage. The hotel site incorporates a natural creek that runs through the property.

The creek has been widened at the north end to create a water feature and fountain. Shade trees will be planted to give the area and its parking-lot islands a park-like atmosphere, and there will be a gazebo with barbecue facilities for guests to use. The project is scheduled for completion in March.
