Candidates sought for Springfield school board

The nomination period to fill two seats on the Springfield Board of Education is just around the corner.

Nomination materials will be available beginning Nov. 19 at Springfield Public Schools Executive Offices, 940 N. Jefferson Ave. Nominations will be taken starting Dec. 18 and until Jan. 22.

The open seats are scheduled to be on the April 8 ballot.

Candidates who file on the first day of the filing period will be entered in a drawing to determine the order in which names will appear on the ballot. Candidates who file later will appear on the ballot in the order that their petitions are received.

Petitions for nomination must contain the names of at least 500 registered voters; the names will be verified against registration records.

Candidates must be a registered voter in the Springfield school district and be at least 24 years old.

All board members hold office for three years.[[In-content Ad]]
