At least three candidates intend to run judge in the recently changed 38th Judicial Circuit.
On Feb. 18, Gov. Jay Nixon signed Senate Bill 585, which split the 38th to only cover Christian County. The 38th previously covered Christian and Taney counties, but the bill created the 46th Judicial Circuit to handle only Taney.
Candidates have until March 29 to file for the Aug. 2 election, said Stephanie Fleming, director of communications for the Missouri secretary of state’s office.
Republicans Kevin Elmer, Jennifer Growcock and Tony Brown all filed yesterday.
Elmer, of Nixa, worked two terms as a state representative serving District 141, according to House.Mo.gov.
Growcock, of Nixa, is a shareholder in Kansas City law firm Polsinelli PC, who works to maintain a southwest Missouri presence for the firm that closed its Springfield office Dec. 31.
Tony Brown is Taney County’s assistant prosecuting attorney.
Tony Williams, an associate circuit judge for Taney County, is the only candidate who’s filed for the new 46th Judicial Circuit position, according to SOS.Mo.gov.
