Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern, Canada’s two major freight railroads, have paused operations amid a labor dispute with employees represented by the Teamsters union.
Some 9,000 members of the union have been locked out after a year of negotiations ended without a new contract.
Company officials have said the Teamsters made unreasonable demands, while union representatives pointed to proposals they say weren't taken seriously by the businesses.
