Canadian firm buying 80% stake in Charlie Brown

A Nova Scotia company behind the children's shows "Yo Gabba Gabba!", "Teletubbies" and "Inspector Gadget" is buying a controlling stake in "Peanuts."

DHX Media agreed to pay $345 million for an 80 percent stake in the "Peanuts" gang, which includes Charlie Brown and Snoopy. DHX also is buying the Strawberry Shortcake brand in the deal.

The seller is Iconix Brand Group, a New York brand management company that bought the 80 percent stake in "Peanuts" from the family of creator Charles M. Schulz for $175 million in 2010.
