Video game publisher Activision Blizzard Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) is boasting first-day sales to retailers exceeding $1 billion for the latest iteration of its military, first-person shooter, "Call of Duty: Ghosts."
According to Forbes, the figure reflects the number of copies shipped to retailers for the Nov. 5 launch. Conversely, the record-breaking "Grand Theft Auto V" launch reflected the amount of copies of the game in the hands of customers.
The "Call of Duty" number also includes copies of the game for Windows PC and Wii U, as well as sales in the pipeline for next-generation consoles, while "Grand Theft Auto's" $1 billion in three days record reflected copies only for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Forbes reports.
