Call centers look to hire 200 by year-end

Posted online
Two Springfield communications firms have planned hiring events this week as part of plans to fill a combined total of more than 200 jobs by the end of the year.

Sunrise Media Partners is hosting a recruitment event Oct. 20, with a stated short-term goal to hire 120 workers for its Springfield call center operation.

“We could use 200 more employees yesterday,” Eric Rowden, owner of Sunrise Media Partners, said in a news release, adding that the company is currently in negotiations for additional office space. “We’ve got more business than we can handle.”

Following two job fairs since May, T-Mobile’s customer care center in Springfield is continuing to add jobs to the local market. The company announced yesterday it plans to hire roughly 90 full-time customer service and sales representatives by the end of the year.

To fill the positions, T-Mobile is opening its call center at 2645 N. Airport Plaza Ave. to applicants 10 a.m.-4 p.m. tomorrow. Those who attend will be able to tour the facility, receive information on the company’s application and assessment process, as well as its benefits, and have the opportunity to be interviewed for the entry-level positions.

Sunrise Media will hold an Oct. 20 open house 9 a.m.-noon at its office in the Yellow Bonnet building, 323 N. Patton Ave. Amy Stevens, Sunrise Media human resources and payroll manager, said the company is making room in its office for new call center employees.

“We actually (signed a lease for) the upper-level of this building, so we’ve (leased) the lofts and have room to add at least 65 chairs up there. We’re adding more chairs to our call center right now,” Stevens said of the company that currently employs roughly 100 workers.

She said new hires would be eligible to receive a $200 sign-on bonus after being employed for 60 days. Employees would start at $8 per hour performing outbound calls to generate sales leads for the company’s clients, Stevens said.

T-Mobile employees receive a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and paid time off programs, mobile phone and service discounts and tuition reimbursement. Pay ranges for new hires would be between $10.65 and $12.60, with the potential for monthly performance incentives.[[In-content Ad]]
