California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced yesterday the state would ban the sale of new gasoline-powered vehicles starting in 2035.
The rule wouldn't prohibit people from owning the vehicles or selling them on the used market.
California is the first state to introduce such a mandate. At least 15 other countries have taken similar measures, including Germany and France.
