California poised for $19B surplus

California is on track for a $19 billion surplus that the state's government is slated to spend by the end of its fiscal year on July 1.

The state collected $10.5 billion more in taxes during 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The funding is expected to trigger a state law requiring the government to issue refunds to taxpayers.

I bet the California assembly finds a way to keep the surplus. That's not in the democratic playbook to give up that kind a of loot.
