A Sacramento, California-based online auction company has expanded to Springfield.
JustBid, which rebranded in October from Prime Auctions, opened its 63,900-square-foot Springfield facility in January at 2965 E. Jean St., a company spokesperson said via email. The warehouse is southeast of the interchange at Interstate 44 and U.S. Highway 65.
"Our first items were listed for bidding on Jan. 15, marking the official start of our auction process. The first pickup day took place on Jan. 26," said the spokesperson, who did not disclose their name.
Through the company's JustBid.com website and an app, customers bid on a variety of items in categories like baby products, electronics and toys. Customers pick up new and pre-owned items won through auctions at the Springfield facility, as well as at two locations in Sacramento.
The JustBid spokesperson said the company is leasing the Jean Street facility for undisclosed terms. The building owner is NC 2 LLC, according to the Greene County assessor.
"While we’ve signed a lease, we are also looking to expand our footprint by either leasing or purchasing additional spaces in the future," the spokesperson said. "We are still in the early stages of our business operations and have plans to expand our presence and impact in Springfield as we grow."
JustBid has hired 13 employees to date for the Springfield operation, the spokesperson said, pointing to plans to bring on 40 additional workers "in the near future."
"Our strategy aligns with the dynamic nature of Springfield’s market, and we aim to support local economic development through job creation and operations," the spokesperson added.
Founded in 2017, JustBid is owned by Tony Kasyudik, Stephen Mukhin and Max Yurtsan, according to the spokesperson.
