California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday signed a law that eventually would ban the sale of new gas-powered equipment such as lawn mowers.
The law impacts gas-powered products that use small off-road engines. Generators and pressure washers also are part of that description.
The law signed by Newsom orders the state to apply the new rule by Jan. 1, 2024, or as soon as regulators determine the ban is "feasible," whichever date is later.
