California Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday signed a bill requiring public corporations based in the state to have board directors from racial or sexual minorities.
The bill orders the more than 660 public corporations with headquarters in California to have at least one board member from an "underrepresented community" by the end of next year.
California is the first in the nation to enact such a bill.
