A longtime fixture of Commercial Street is shuttering.
MJ's Antiques and Collectibles, 208 E. Commercial St., is closing July 31, the company announced in a Facebook post. The store previously operated as M.J.'s Flea Mart.
The post indicates the property is selling.
"Earlier this year, when my grandmother passed the torch to me, the building owner reminded us that the day would come when he would sell the property. We were fortunate to have seven amazing months, and the memories we created during that time will last a lifetime," the post, signed by Russell Silva, reads.
Randy Ebrite is listed as the property owner with the Greene County assessor’s office.
Marlene "MJ" Climer died Jan. 30 at age 79, according to her obituary posted to GreenlawnFuneralHome.com. Silva said via email that he took over ownership of the business after his grandmother's death.
"This closure marks the end of an era – a legacy that began with my grandmother, MJ. For the past 26 years, she lovingly curated and distributed hand-picked items from our shop. Her passion and dedication have left an indelible mark, and her spirit lives on through the treasures she shared with people all over the world,” the recent Facebook post from MJ's Antiques and Collectibles reads.
MJ's Antiques and Collectibles announced in the Facebook post that it would continue to offer wares at Relics, RC and Riker’s flea markets.
