C-SPAN video journalists arrived in Springfield yesterday and will remain through Thursday to shoot footage for its tour of midsize cities.
Debbie Lamb, coordinating producer for the C-SPAN Cities Tour, is scheduled to join Mayor Ken McClure and Mediacom Communications Corp. (Nasdaq: MCCC) Senior Director for Area Operations Steve Bennett at 5 p.m. today at the Gillioz Theatre to kick off the network’s stop in the Queen City, according to a news release.
“During their time in Springfield, C-SPAN producers will visit various literary and historic sites, interview local historians and nonfiction authors and conduct educational and community outreach in the area,” the release reads.
Officials are scheduled to unveil the local sites it will visit during the reception this evening.
Segments featuring Springfield are slated to run on C-SPAN2’s Book TV and C-SPAN3’s American History TV channels Jan. 6-7 in partnership with Mediacom, according to the release.
Through the Cities Tour, C-SPAN is talking with local historians, authors and civic leaders about the literary life and history of selected cities.
