C of O receives $500K via Legends of Golf

College of the Ozarks penned a three-year deal with the National Christian College Athletic Association to host upcoming volleyball and cross country championships.

Through the extent of the 2018-2020 deal, C of O will host the NCCAA Division I and II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country National Championships in November, as well as the Division I Women’s Volleyball National Championship in November or December, according to a news release.

“The NCCAA is honored to announce that College of the Ozarks has been selected as the host for these championships,” NCCAA Executive Director Dan Wood said in the release. “With a long and successful history of hosting championship events, C of O will elevate this event in every way.”

Last year, C of O announced it would cease hosting the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Men’s Division II Basketball National Tournament, citing its new national anthem policy. Officials with the Point Lookout college pointed to the NAIA’s refusal to implement a policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem. The NAIA has since announced a move to a single division in both men’s and women’s basketball, which eliminated the Division II tournament, according to the release.

At the time, NAIA officials said the city of Branson would lose a $2 million economic impact from the tournament.
