John Moody Construction Co. is the general contractor for renovations at the former Busy Bee building, owned by Tom and Nancy Dornan and Reg Condry. Stephen P. Maslan & Co. of Kansas City is the architect and engineer for the project.
The ground floor is being opened up for three undetermined retailers, and the upper floors will house three one-bedroom lofts and six two-bedroom offices. Some of the two-bedroom lofts will be designed to accommodate office usage, with private entrances from the hallways into bedrooms.
The project is to be completed in the summer at an estimated cost of $1.7 million. Financing is through Valley State Bank in Kansas, a city loan and tax credits.
