Bussell Building Inc. has announced its upcoming development of Tiger Creek, a residential community in Republic.
Tyler Bussell, president of Bussell Building, said prices in the community start in the mid to upper $200,000s and go up to the low $400,000s for some of the larger models. The two-phase development will have 63 lots in its first phase, Bussell said, with Phase 1 tracking to be a $23 million investment.
Bussell Building finished the Auburn Hills neighborhood in Republic about two years ago, and it took only about 2 1/2 years to build about 120 homes, Bussell said, adding that the company was looking to get back into that city.
“Republic’s been a great market for us,” he said.
He added that the location of Tiger Creek is a strong one, just down the street from Republic High School and close to Springfield for commuters.
The Tiger Creek development is in the 3400 block of East Hines Street at the intersection with Greene County Route ZZ, and Auburn Hills is about half a mile to the west on Hines Street, Bussell said. The Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is nearby.
Bussell said he purchased the site from development company S6 Tiger Creek LLC, organized by Stephanie Stenger, CEO of Springfield Land LP.
Nixa-based Bussell Building began building houses in 1999, Bussell said, and he added that is a plus for the company.
“We offer stability, longevity, a reputation and a track record,” he said. “As far as larger builders, we’ve been in business longer than anybody. You could almost combine everybody else, and we’ve still been around longer.”
The range in home prices for the new subdivision is part of an approach by the company to establish a variety of home types in its neighborhoods.
“That’s what we try to do in all of our developments,” Bussell said. “We don’t focus on one market primarily. In all of our communities, we have first-time homebuyers, move-up homes, people who are downsizing. It’s a very healthy and diverse mix of home types and families, from first-time buyers to empty-nesters.”
That makes selling homes fun, Bussell said, noting that some first-time buyers go through the experience with their parents coaching them along. Other buyers are parents whose children have moved on to their own homes and who have stories to tell about how they arrived where they are in life.
“We’re able to deal with so many different people and families in all aspects of life,” he said.
In other news for the homebuilder, Bussell Building is the official builder of the 2026 Springfield St. Jude Dream Home, having donated time and materials for the giveaway, according to the St. Jude website. The home is a $727,000 two-story brick and stone home with four bedrooms, three baths and 2,880 square feet of living space.
