Gov. Matt Blunt appointed the southwest Missouri professionals and 16 others from across the state to various councils Jan. 3.
Sam M. Coryell, 32, will serve on the Advisory Committee on 911 Service Oversight. Coryell is the president of Coryell Enterprises Inc., a property management company in Springfield. He is a graduate of Missouri State University.
The advisory committee is charged with developing statewide technical standards for 911 services and reviewing legislation involving the emergency service.
Coryell’s two-year term is subject to Senate confirmation.
Rosalie C. Wooten, 63, was appointed to the Missouri State Council of the Arts for a term ending Oct. 13, 2010.
Wooten is past executive vice president of Springfield’s O’Reilly Auto Parts and currently serves on the company’s board. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Drury University.
The arts council acts as Missouri’s grant-making division, providing financial assistance to nonprofit organizations for quality arts programming.
Herbert J. Smith, 50, was named to the Missouri Training and Employment Council for a term ending Aug. 28, 2007, subject to Senate confirmation.
Smith is president and CEO of Contract Freighters Inc., a Joplin trucking company, and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Missouri Southern State University.
The employment council works to recommend improvements to Missouri’s employment and job training service delivery network and to help create a quality work force system.
