YOUR BUSINESS AUTHORITY
Springfield, MO
You may have done a double take when you opened this issue of the Springfield Business Journal and found inside it another, completely different publication titled Springfield Parent & Family.
We would like our Business Journal readers, and their families, to know more about our family.
Springfield Parent & Family is the sister publication of the Business Journal. It is a monthly magazine providing information of use to families, with an emphasis on children age newborn to 12 years.
A look at the staff boxes on the Business Journal and Parent & Family will evoke deja vu, as many of the names, if not the titles, are the same.
For example, I am copy editor and special sections editor for the Business Journal.
With Parent & Family I wear another hat, that of editor-in-chief.
Likewise, SBJ staff writer Karen Culp is also staff writer and columnist for Parent & Family, and SBJ page designer/photographer Beth Santos is also associate editor/page designer for Parent & Family.
The publications share administrative, circulation and production staff, but Parent & Family has its own advertising account executive, new addition Eric Bartelsmeyer.
Our regular features include book reviews, parenting advice, health information, education news and our popular calendar of events, which lists area events and activities, most of which can be enjoyed at low or no cost.
The August issue of Parent & Family is our Back to School edition. In it you will find stories on homeschooling, shopping for school, an interview with Springfield Public Schools' new superintendent, information on child development from Parents As Teachers, a health column on heat stroke, a feature on Frantic Family Syndrome and book reviews on bedtime reading selections.
The calendar of events is a favorite with many of our readers, providing information on everything from local music festivals and art exhibits, to day camps, library events, Nature Center activities and classes available at the Discovery Center.
Parent & Family is distributed free through the Springfield and Rogersville public schools, Springfield Catholic Schools, New Covenant Academy, Greenwood Lab School, the Sylvan Learning Center and area day cares. It can also be found in racks at McDonald's restaurants in Springfield, Nixa and Ozark[[In-content Ad]]
