Business Expo to be held

The annual Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Business & Technology Expo will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Springfield Exposition Center, 635 St. Louis St. Tickets are free from any Expo exhibitor or $10 at the door.

More than 150 companies and organizations will participate in the event, showcasing products and services, according to a chamber news release.

Springfield Business Journal will be an exhibitor.

For the first time, the chamber will hold its Tour De Expo scavenger hunt at the event. Attendees will be given a passport to be stamped by participating exhibitors, and completed passports will be put into a drawing for cash prizes, according to the release.

Ellen Rohr, Springfield business consultant and president of BareBonesBiz.com , who also writes columns for SBJ, will present a seminar at the expo called "How to Grow Your Business." The seminar will largely focus on how companies can increase their marketing capabilities.

An Expo-related "Good Morning, Springfield!" will be held at 7:30 a.m. at Mediacom Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway. The event, sponsored by Mille's Cafe and Coyote's Adobe Cafe, will feature city and region news with breakfast as a precursor to the day's events, according to the chamber's Web site.

Kristen Lochner, the chamber's manager of special events, told SBJ about 2,000 people attended the 2009 Business Expo. The chamber hopes to exceed that amount this year.
