Before federal assistance will be made available to individuals and businesses, the State Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct damage assessments beginning next week, according to a Blunt news release.
The assistance is approved for essentially all of southwest Missouri, including Greene, Christian, Dade, Polk and Webster counties.
Federal assistance can range anywhere from U.S. Coast Guard helicopters for water rescue operations to sandbags from Corps of Engineers, according to the release. State assistance can include water rescues, mass care and sheltering operations, monitoring road closures and security and transportation missions.
