Burner Design acquires KC company

Posted online
St. Louis-based Burner Design and Control Inc. has acquired Heat Process and Control of Kansas City and all of its southwest Missouri customer contracts.

BDC purchased HPC for an undisclosed amount on Jan. 4.

BDC is a full-service provider of combustion and process control systems and, through its purchase of HPC services, it will be able to provide full industrial process heating solutions for manufacturers.

BDC President Charles Roth said the acquisition of HPC came about because of its market in a territory BDC had not reached: western Missouri and Kansas.

“We wanted to expand in the trade area and, primarily, we wanted that customer base,” he said.

HPC's customers included General Electric Regal-Beloit, WillowBrook Foods, Kraft Inc. and Stainless Fabrication Inc. in Springfield, and Tamko Roofing Products Inc. in Joplin, among others. Roth estimates the acquisition will add between 150 and 200 ongoing and active customers.

BDC also will transfer its signature services to HPC customers, including its expanded inventories, 24-hour field service, training and design/fabrication capabilities.

Roth said he expects to increase BDC's revenues from $7 million to $10 million with the acquisition. In HPC's former region, he plans to hire three field service technicians in the next 12 to 18 months, as well as one or two additional salespeople.
