Burger King will begin selling burgers for breakfast

Posted online
Taco Bell's recent breakthrough into the breakfast market must have fast food juggernauts McDonald's Corp. (NYSE: MDC) and Burger King Worldwide Inc. scared.

Timed in line with the release of Yum! Brands Inc.'s (NYSE: YUM) waffle taco, the Golden Arches offered customers a free cup of coffee a day for two weeks straight. Now, Burger King is amping up its breakfast menu with burgers.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Miami-based chain says its "Burgers at Breakfast" menu includes its Whoppers, cheeseburgers and Big King sandwiches, as well as its original chicken sandwich, french fries and apple pie. The items are offered alongside the chain's normal breakfast menu.

More than 5,000 locations will participate in the program. The company said it began rolling out the program earlier this month but did not say whether it would be available permanently or for a limited time.
