Burger King to pay for the wedding of Mr. Burger, Ms. King

Joel Burger and partner Ashley King have heard the jokes since they were in fifth grade — the Burger-King couple. Now, upon announcing their engagement, it seems the years of taunting are about to pay off.

The State-Journal Register reports the fast food chain has offered to pay for the Illinois couple’s wedding, including providing gifts. The couple happily accepted.

The unique names gained national attention after the couple ran a engagement announcement in the paper appearing next to a Burger King sign.

The Register reports a Burger King spokesman says the company felt an overwhelming urge to help the happy couple celebrate their upcoming marriage.

The ceremony will be held July 17 in Jacksonville, Ill.
