The volunteers prefabricated 28 walls in about 90 minutes at the former Carter-Waters warehouse on the Drury campus. The effort was part of a freshman orientation service-learning project.
The home, being constructed with sustainable materials and energy-efficient design, has received $50,000 in pledges along with in-kind building material donations from companies such as Meek’s, Missouri Heating and Cooling, Roper Electric and Cedar Creek Wholesale. Home recipient Amy Pinegar and her family will work alongside the volunteer builders.
