Lamar Berry, left, co-founder of Dagwood’s Sandwich Shoppes, was in Springfield on April 16 with local franchisees Tom and Joann Dapp to discuss Midwestern expansion plans. The Dapps will open the first Missouri Dagwood’s location in May; they plan to develop 65 stores during the next five years in their franchise region, which comprises Springfield, Joplin and Kansas City. The chain is named after comic strip character Dagwood Bumstead, below right, with wife Blondie.
