Buffett's Berkshire becoming its own 'elephant' investment

Warren Buffett has been known to use the term "elephant" to refer to large-scale investments.

The Wall Street Journal reports Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. hasn't made any elephant investments this year. However, the company's investments in itself are rising to that level.

During the first three quarters of the year, Berkshire invested $15.7 billion to buy back its shares. That means Berkshire Hathaway stock now is one of the company's largest investments ever.
