Lululemon Athletica Inc. (Nasdaq: LULU) is entering the Springfield market.
Brentwood Center North landlord Curtis Jared said the athletic apparel retailer signed a lease for roughly 3,000 square feet next door to Sumits Hot Yoga. He declined to disclose the lease terms at the South Glenstone Avenue shopping center.
“They’ll come with their pop-up store concept that they’ll operate a specific period of time to test the market,” Jared said, noting a conversion and remodel to a full store would be considered after the test period.
The store is slated to open in June, said Jared, who’s president and CEO of Jared Enterprises Inc. Lululemon also posted a Springfield store manager position on LinkedIn last month.
A Lululemon spokesperson could not be reached immediately for comment by deadline.
Jared said Lululemon targeted Springfield by tracking ZIP codes at other stores and online sales. The Vancouver, Canada-based retailer operates roughly 460 stores, selling apparel for yoga, running, training and sports, according to a news release.
With the new lease, Jared said Brentwood Center North is 97% occupied, and Brentwood Center South is fully occupied.
