City officials break ground April 17 on the $5.9 million Heer’s Car Park, at the corner of Campbell Avenue and Olive Street. The city is funding the 143,000-square-foot parking deck, scheduled for completion in March 2008, through a combination of sources, including level property tax, 1/8-cent transportation sales tax and special obligation bonds. Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc. designed the structure, which will accommodate 375 parking spaces for patrons of Heer’s Tower and the nearby College Station development. Carson-Mitchell Inc. is building the project.
