Oklahoma City-based Braum's is moving up a planned remodel of a Springfield store following a fire yesterday.
The 1401 W. Sunshine St. store's lobby will be closed during the extent of the remodel, said Amanda Beuchaw, Braum's public relations director. She said a timeline has not yet been determined.
"It is not a total loss, but there is enough damage in one of the entrance areas and in the lobby that we will remain closed until the remodel is complete," Beuchaw said via email.
The Springfield Fire Department arrived at the scene at 5:18 p.m., said Steven Sharp, battalion chief for the department.
"All employees and customers had evacuated the building prior to our arrival and there were no injuries reported," he said. "The fire was contained to the facade."
Beuchaw said the fire was ruled accidental and that it appears to have been electrical in nature.
"We do not currently know the extent of the financial loss," she said, noting employees would be relocated to other stores.
