Branson's Herschend resigns from state chamber board

Branson businessman Peter Herschend has sent the Missouri Chamber of Commerce & Industry board his resignation letter, citing the group’s support for Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s recent visit to the state.

In the letter, the Kansas City Star reports Herschend took issue with Perry’s attempt to take business and jobs from Missouri, and he voiced objection to the chamber’s backing of tax measure House Bill 253.

Herschend served on the boards for the state chamber and State Board of Education, groups that were split on their support of the controversial tax cuts proposed in House Bill 253. An attempt to override Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of the bill failed last week.
