The Branson Public Works Department reported that one-day records for water production were set on both Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, 5.61 million gallons of drinking water were produced, followed by 5.64 million gallons on Sunday.
The previous one-day record for the weekend was 5.29 million gallons in 2004.
The combined water production for the three days totaled 16.181 million gallons compared to last year’s 14.730 million gallons.
“Watching the pumps run for extended times is a clear indication that there’s a lot of people in town enjoying all the attractions Branson has to offer,” said Larry VanGilder, Branson’s public works director, in a news release.
Although the city used record amounts of water for that weekend, Jerry Adams, public information director, said the city of Branson is well within the limits of what existing infrastructure can handle .
“We have an ample supply because a majority of our water comes from Lake Tanneycomo not ground wells,” he said.
